Developmental Milestones

Developmental milestones are behavioral or physical checkpoints in children’s development as they grow.

  • Social/Emotional milestones track your child’s ability to interact with others.
  • Language/Communication milestones include the language milestones that represent the building blocks for a child’s communication skills.
  • Cognitive milestones represent the way your child learns, thinks, and applies problem-solving techniques to daily life situations.
  • Movement/Physical Development milestones track a child’s gross motor skills (core and upper body) and fine motor skills (hands and feet).

Remember that all children are different! Milestones mark the month most children start a certain behavior or ability based on the child’s age, but the exact timing will vary. At Ashley Pediatrics, we listen to your concerns and want to provide all the support you need as a parent. If you have any questions, come visit us in any of our convenient locations.
